Yahoo! hates Roger Clemens

Filed under: baseball — miggie smalls @ 1:01 pm

I get all of the Yahoo!-related New York Yankees photos in my Google Reader and today all I’m getting are pictures of Roger Clemens because he is being deposed today by the always-busy House of Representatives. I guess the RSS headline editor doesn’t care for Mr. Clemens, because he/she wrote that Roger was an “accused dope cheat”. Holy crappers, I say to myself, this is total news to me!

Roger Clemens is a dope cheat?

Now, I’m not up on the drug lingo nowsadays, so I looked on the always-veritable Urban Dictionary, and they indicate that dope only means marijuana or heroin. I’m pretty up on things and I didn’t even know that the Rog has been accused of mixing it up with some party drugs.

Maybe it was an innocent mistake, right? So I click through the feed for that headline so I can see the entire text of the page and maybe find that Yahoo! has confirmed that Mr. Clemens is being accused of either trafficking or engaging in the abuse of dope.

No “dope” found

Just as I thought - they were trying to be slick. No mention anywhere on the page of any kid of dope. I even checked the page source, to see if dope was mentioned in a meta tag or a pic description, and nothing. I guess Yahoo! kind of knew that they would be subjected to unwanted litigation if they were to name Mr. Clemens as an “accused dope cheat” on their actual page, so they simply drop it in an RSS headline.

What a bunch of yahoos.

(I just made that up. Pretty good, huh?)
